I was asked to help a company improve accessibility. One of the big problems is the contrast ratio for links / text (depending on the size 4.5: 1 or 3: 1 required).

At the moment I can only think of a background, a shadow of text or some kind of image [background] to solve this problem. You have a good looking site that just doesn't meet your requirements (WCAG 2.0 AA).

hast Du die Richtlinie https://www.w3.org/Translations/WCAG20-de/ des w3.org gelesen?
In Punkt 1.4.3 Kontrast (Minimum) und folgende wird das mit Kontrast erklärt. Es läuft auf eine Möglichkeit der Schrift- und/oder Seitenvergrößerung heraus.
In den Betriebsystemen OSX, Win ect, kann jeder betroffene das einstellen, was er braucht, siehe https://www.tournatur.bayern.de/barrierefreiheit/index.htm.

Empfohlen sei auch noch dies Tool: https://webaim.org/resources/contrastchecker/ um Kontraste zu beurteilen.
